12 Instagram Automated DM Templates for Keyword Campaigns

Match the message to the promise in your post. Give the requested link a clear next step.

By CommentFor · Published

A useful delivery DM has three parts: acknowledge what the person requested, give the relevant link, and explain what happens next. The examples below are writing templates, not extra built-in product presets. Replace every bracketed placeholder before using one.

Use these messages after someone comments the keyword you advertised. They are not a script for unsolicited outreach. Keep one offer per post so a reader knows what they are asking to receive.

Guide and resource delivery

1. A downloadable checklist

Post prompt: Comment CHECKLIST for the shoot-planning checklist.

Here’s the shoot-planning checklist you asked for: [link]. Start with the equipment section before you plan your first location.

2. A tutorial

Post prompt: Comment TUTORIAL for the full editing walkthrough.

Here’s the full editing walkthrough: [link]. The first section covers the settings used in this reel.

3. A resource mentioned in a reel

Post prompt: Comment RESOURCE for the worksheet from this reel.

Here’s the worksheet from the reel: [link]. Make your own copy before adding your answers.

If the resource requires a login or an email address on the destination page, say so in the post and message. A request for a worksheet should not unexpectedly become a different offer. See our lead-magnet delivery guide for the full workflow.

Products and offers

4. A specific product

Post prompt: Comment DETAILS for the bag shown in this post.

Here are the details for the [product name] from this post: [link]. You can check the available sizes and current stock there.

5. A discount

Post prompt: Comment OFFER for the current launch offer.

Here’s the launch offer: [link]. Use [code] at checkout. It applies to [eligible items] until [real end date].

6. A price or service package

Post prompt: Comment PACKAGES for the service packages.

Here are the current [service] packages: [link]. Each option lists what’s included so you can choose the right starting point.

Keep stock, prices, and terms on the destination page when they change frequently. Use genuine deadlines rather than manufactured urgency. For an affiliate link, make the relationship clear in the relevant post and destination.

Bookings, events, and updates

7. A consultation

Post prompt: Comment CALL for the consultation details.

Here’s how the [consultation name] works: [link]. Read the details first, then choose an available time if it fits what you need.

8. An event registration

Post prompt: Comment EVENT for the workshop registration page.

Here’s the [workshop name] registration page: [link]. It includes the date, time zone, format, and what to bring.

9. A waitlist

Post prompt: Comment WAITLIST for the next cohort’s waitlist.

You can join the [cohort name] waitlist here: [link]. The page explains which updates you’ll receive before you sign up.

Content and community

10. A newsletter sample

Post prompt: Comment SAMPLE to read an example issue.

Here’s an example issue of [newsletter name]: [link]. You can read it first and subscribe there if you’d like more.

11. A giveaway information page

Post prompt: Comment ENTRY for the giveaway details.

Here are the [giveaway name] details: [link]. Please read the eligibility, closing date, and entry instructions before joining.

12. A comparison or buying guide

Post prompt: Comment COMPARE for the comparison table.

Here’s the comparison table from this post: [link]. Start with the column for [relevant criterion] to narrow down your options.

Adapt a template without making it confusing

  1. Choose a keyword that matches the promise: GUIDE for a guide, DETAILS for product details.
  2. Replace the placeholders with one real resource and its correct address.
  3. Read the post prompt and DM together. They should describe the same offer.
  4. Check the destination on a phone, including any login or form it requires.
  5. Run a fresh keyword comment from a second account before promoting the post.

In CommentFor, keyword comment-to-DM delivery and tracked links are available on the free plan.

On a paid plan, optional email capture, follow gates, public comment auto-replies, and the DM flow builder are available. Read the current plan details before adding those steps.

Measure the action the message is meant to support

A click means someone followed a link. It does not establish that they downloaded a file, booked a call, or bought a product. Give the destination a measurable action and compare messages within the same campaign context. The UTM tracking guide shows how to connect a DM link with destination reporting.

For the initial reply and any later conversation, follow the platform’s messaging windows. Review private-reply limits and Meta’s private-replies documentation.
